Paris, France

July, 2019

After my stint in England, I hopped over to France where I met up with a friend to explore the city of Paris. The one thing that stands the most is the juxtaposition between modern and ancient. Everywhere I looked, I saw a city rich in history, but with the modern touches of a 21st century metropolis. My two favorite sites in Paris were Sainte Chapelle and the Eiffel Tower. We went to a baroque classical concert in Sainte Chapelle on the first night. Let me tell you....the stained glass windows at night are a sight to behold! And the ensemble of Voces Suave in such a beautiful place gave me chills.

One memory I'll never forget is the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower. We were not going to see it until later that day, so I wasn't prepared to turn a corner and see the massive structure in my view. We were headed to the Musee Des Art, so my mind was focused on that. When we stepped out of the subway, turned the corner, and the Tower was in my view, I was frozen in amazement. My favorite book growing up with Caroline. Through the pages of the little girls in 2 straight lines, the Eiffel Tower was always in the background. Paris was a faraway, magical place in my mind. I never imagined I would actually be in her presence. When the Eiffel Tower stole my breath that day, I froze with tears in my eyes, realizing how blessed I am to live a life that allows me to travel the world and experience other cultures and see places that I've seen in books my whole life. It was a beautiful moment to appreciate history, dreams, and opportunity.
